Hi to the group....I am in the process of installing 4 large Arco steel
racks that measure 4 foot by 16 foot that house 16 Quad Lams per
panel....the racks are heavy galvanized steel ones but I cannot locate any
informtion on them.  There is no model numbers on the racks... These racks
weigh somewhere in the area of 200 pounds each, maybe more.  I will  need
this information when I approach the planning dept here in Riverside County,
California.  Of course I intend to ground mount them, so some specs are
gonna be required or if you have some guidance along those lines,  it would
be greatly appreciated.

Thx....Lonnie

The Arco Quads are like.. 35 years old now? They were taken out of service
sometime around 1980 and sold in bulk when the project was dismantled. The
panels used vary, but most were 35 to 43 watt rated - probably a lot less
now, since many of them were cooked by solar concentrators (the darker brown
they are, they more they were roasted). I vaguely recall that each piece of
the quad was 5.5 volts, hooked in series.

Arco --> Siemens --> Shell --> and now SolarWorld.

As I recall, these were used in an experiment by Arco and therefore
they may have been custom manufactured by or for them exclusively.
It's quite likely they never had a model number.

Anthony...I wonder how that would play with the Planning
Department?.....Maybe photos and deminsions would suffice, do you
think?.....

You may have a problem with the lack of a UL listing on these old and special
application PV modules.  Most building inspectors want to see that there is a
UL listing.  There is also the problem of NEC labeling of the system when there
are no module labels to base the system rating on.
