I was thinking about adding a large cap to the 12 volt feed point of a 1200
watt inverter to help with motor start up load on the inverter.
possibly also at the 12 volt feed points of my ham gear as the battery bank
may be 16 feet from my rigs to help cut down on that voltage drop when you
first key up.
Where would you buy them and what size cap / caps would you use ?
I have seen a few out there for car audio that should work...
Thanks KI4ILB

I wouldn't waste my time on adding Caps to the Power Leads on either the
Inverter or the Ham Gear, but rather deal with the Voltage Drop, of
what appears to be inadequate sized conductors in the Power Feeder.
If your feeders can't handle the Startup Currents, due to I2R losses,
then you just need BIGGER Feeders. I really like 00 Welding Cable
when I have feeder runs longer than 10Ft, @ 12Vdc, but have also
used 1/2" soft drawn Copper Tubing as a DC Power Buss.
If your really intent on pulling 1200Watts out of battery system,
you really should up the Battery voltage to 24 or 48 Vdc, to help
with the high I2R losses that your seeing between the batteries
and the inverter. 100Amps of continious draw is really not good
for ANY type of 12Vdc Battery System.
