I will - hopefully - soon have a PV system using the Fronius inverter IG40
and it's datalogging modules (COMCard + EasyCard).
Now my problem is that I want to access the data online with an own program
(so that I can combine the photothermic data of my other system with the
photovoltaic in one graph), and their program only allows to export the data
to Excel, and not automatically. While I think this is not state-of-the art,
I cannot help it - they don't publish the protocol details.
Does anybody have information on the protocol they use? I'm an experienced
programmer and will use a port sniffer as last resort to find out, but I
don't want to reinvent the wheel.

Let me see what I can dig up.

Christian Kaiser a crit :
We tried getting some information out of Fronius for a rather large
system on a high school, to allow the students to better study the
system and production....
Fronius were VERY firm in their refusal to give any information
whatsoever about their protocol....

Yes. I don't get why they don't publish it. It will improve the amount of
software available for their hardware, so might make it more attractive.
It's not that they sell any more software because of the unknown protocol,
as the software is free...
Once asked, the manufacturer of the controller of my photothermic system
(Technische Alternative, Austria) did send me a (more or less) complete
information about the protocol used (the port sniffer showed me most of the
data, but some details became clear only after reading the docs). They were
extremely helpful. I will, when it's finished, give that away as freeware.
Much better than their software (in my eyes...).
Let's see whether Martin finds something, or what the protocol looks like. I
hope the installation will be finished in about 2 weeks, then I can start.

Nothing as of yet. Not even a response. But If something pops up I will let you
