apologies if this has been covered.

i'm considering a ground mounted array about 30-40 feet from the house.  is
that feasable/practical?  any amplification necessary?  opinions on ground v.
roof mounting especially appreciated.

thanks

ohjeeez@aol.com mentioned...

Sure it's feasible.  But the neighbors had to put chicken wire over
their solar water heater panels to keep the little brat bastards from
throwing rocks and breaking the glass.  So it might be advisable to
keep the panels up high to prevent vandalism.

If your making them yourself, use lexan as the outer glazing. Pretty
well impossible to break, so you can put them anywhere

my understanding of lexan is that it scratches easily and 'fogs' over time.  i
was considering lexan as a subsitute for a few windows (i'm in a huricane zone)
but was advised against it for those reasons.

Roof mount requires a $300-$500 GFI whereas ground mount does not.
