Hello, I live in Ridgecrest, California, which is out in the desert and
it gets lots of sun. I've been thinking about switching over to a Solar
Power System, but I'm concerned about the cost of the system. I have a
rather small home, about 1326 square feet and my monthly electric bill
is about $0 dollars. I've contacted Home Depot for an installation
estimate; hopefully it won't cost an arm and a leg. Can anyone comment
on the cost of a solar power system, the maintenance and care of a
solar power system, or any other things such as is it worth it, or what
other hassles are there.

The payback for several thousands of dollars at a dollar or less per
day is over 10 years no matter how many times I tweak the spreadsheet.
It aint a money makin investment.

You are correct give what he said, but there may be other mitigating
factors you are not considering. My use of Time Of Day metering
resulted in a $00 a year increase in my credits from PG&E. This really
helped my own payback picture. Also, the new Calif. rebates that will
probably take effect if the SB1 million roof legislation that is
currently being fast tracked thru the state legislature, is passed and
approved by the Gov. He already publicly acknowledged his support for
this bill and encouraged its passage.

Hello, little confused, so do you think installing a solar system is a
good thing or a bad thing?

It is not for profit but rather fun, hobby or necessity.
