Wrong again. My home is 2000 square ft. with an attached
workshop/garage/hangar the same size. Constructed of 10" SIPs with
triple-glazed windows. Here's the floor plan
http://www.citlink.net/~wmbjk/images/main/floorplan.jpg . A very
spacious layout for 2 people, with lots of 6' tall windows to take
advantage of impressive views.
Hey, I'm not the one wasting his life writing silly exaggerations in
support of a weak position, in a forum where so many have already done
what he claims is too difficult.
That's typical pretend-conservation. If you're sitting in front of a
monitor, then what do you need 70W of light for? Try turning on the
hallway lights for all the several minutes per day when you're
actually in the hallway. Or put in some solar-tube lighting.
Dollars to donuts the only thing that's preventing you from cutting
back on lighting energy is that you can't be bothered.
Regardless, you're a good example of someone who claims that working
toward energy independence is too expensive, when the real reason is
that energy independence is the lowest priority. In your case, it's
pontificating on Usenet that's more important to you.

Why would you want to light "it"? You only have to light the area
you're in, and only when daylight won't do the job. We have some 2
dozen pot lights in the living area, most with 12W CF floods, each
with its own switch. But that's for a larger place, so surely you'd
want to improve on our efficiency. How about using a head-mounted LED
affair. I think the miner look would be especially appropriate for
someone who's been reading this newsgroup for so long, yet remains in

Why not move the computer off the stairs then? Seems a silly place to
have it. Sheesh, your debating disabilities continue to astound. Have
you considered posting less so that you have more time to think about
what you're writing?
