I would like to install a min-split heat pump to take care of a small
mountain cabin that gets quite hot in the summer time.  I am also building a
12x12 sun/screen room and the roof area of this would accomodate a small PV
array.  What do you folks think of powering my AC in this way?
All feedback appreciated.

You probably can't afford it.

Put another roof over it to shade it. Some call them trees or flye for
tents.

Not really any info on it. AC takes large amount of electricity,
figure $$$$$

Aside from extra shading and insulation, how do you get your water?
If you have a source of cool water, you have options.

   BTW, is it humid there?

On another note, I was talking with an energy trader a day ago. His
thoughts were that PV would make a sizeable drop in 4 or 5 years with
new silicon production coming online, and new technolgy to cut thinner
wafers. Not that it'll be cheap!
