Anthony I don't think there is anything you can buy off the shelf, but
something like that is awfully easy to make.
Depending on your power requirements this sort of thing is easily put
together.

What are you looking to power when car based camping?

Yes, I realize its easy to make such a system (since I've already made
one - albeit not portable - see my previous web link). I think you
could build a small portable system for around AUS$00.

I'd mainly use the power for lighting when camping

No problem, I was just wondering if there was a commercial system you
could buy that had all the components neatly packaged. Its a bit of a
rats nest of wires once you connect all the components and then you
need to put it in a box.

 hmmmm really
put the regulator on the back of the panel then wire to battery
does not look and sound like a rats nest.
get cheap ex-army shoulder back from disposals store, put battery inside and
mount a couple of outlets of choice.
where you live anything less than 12w would be a waste of time most of the
year.
