You learn how to comparative shop , that's what you do !
Si panels are all pretty much the same ... if it works when you first get
them , it should work in 25 years regardless of the manufactures warranty
Your quoted price is about 3X what the panels cost using either eBay or a
bunch of internet based solar products dealers
On eBay , today you can get 1440 watts (STC) of Astropower panels for
3719.00 (plus shipping) , that's almost 2X the power at 1/2 the cost you
quoted ...

Internet places:
http://www.partsonsale.com/products.html#anchor850177 , many different
brands , 3.20 watt
http://www.affordable-solar.com/kykc158wa.html , KC-158's 3.10 watt
Just spend an hour using Google and you will get an idea of what is
available !. I've also added a solar deals section to my discussion group ,
when I see a good deal on panels , I post a message about it with the URL

Shop around and learn the trade so you can do it, or know it yourself.
Then when you have the installer up on your roof you will know what he
is doing. Your point about the warranty to me is a very good one. I
see all these new companies making panels and who knows if they will
be around. I would read the warranty very carefully and know what it
will cost you labor, shipping and shipping back. They do fail at a
small rate. I would not buy a blemished panel unless I inspected the
panel, knew what to look for, and got a big discount!
In fact a good learning tip would be to buy a blemished
panel..............
