Do all you Indians turn in at dusk? No TV? No fans? No? Then you DO
want baseline coal plants online at night?

Doesnt even have to be at night.
A single cloudy day and your Solar Power Station is about as useful as
a brick.
Power grids need reliable energy generation, ie energy thats available
when its needed, not when some environmental conditions exist.
Geo Thermal is currently the only renewable energy thats reliable, and
can provide power on demand.

You don't seem to understand about energy generation and "baseline loads"

Your comment is not related to the subject matter and a moot point.

PV is not expected at night and functions well enough for Ontario to pay
80.2 cents / kWh for it.

Actually, NOT True.... Hydro is a very good "Power On Demand" energy
source. It takes very little time or energy to startup a idle
Turbine/Generator in a Hydro Project, from opening the Penstock Gates to
bring the unit Online. On the order of a few minutes, and an already
spinning Off-Line Turbine/Generator, to Online and loaded, takes about
30 seconds.  Just Say'en......  and Hydro is certainly RENEWABLE, as
long as this earth supports Rain and Snow.....

Hydro power plants cant be built anywhere that power is needed.
You need the correct geography and a water source, something which
cant be built if its not there already.
