As mentioned in the school presentation thread:-
Have I missed something here? I've never heard of it but would certainly
like to know more.
I have lots of questions.
The critical one is - would the simple d.i.y. one mentioned in the thread
cook anything in English (i.e. unreliable!) weather or does it need
sustained sunlight?
If it does I'll stop asking :-)

I once mentioned solar cooking to my wife and received the " do you
want to be hit over the head with a cast iron frying pan " look.
I think that her thought behind this was; You men have been farting
around with technology for 8,000 years and a foil lined carboard box is
the best you can do?
There is a lot of info. on solar cookers on the net, as well as
recipies and time required for cooking. You should be able to find solar
data for your area from the weather bureau.
