Try making sense Graham. I've never needed auxiliary lighting when
using my laptop, day or night. If I did, I'd fire up my 15 watt CF
which is powered by my solar charged batteries. Before you ridicule
someone else, you ought to walk the talk. Refresh my memory, why
exactly are you on this group? I'm here because i actually live off
grid and use the technologies I promote.

Funny thing is that steve is right about his walking the talk.
Pity he's a lame duck when it comes to actually walking the walk. And
remember, when wayne said:
"Face it man, if you were out working on an optimized TP hanger for a
He was talking about steve's Bucket'O'Shit. What a team.

The group's name isn't alt.solar.photovoltaic.promotion
PV solar is an absurdly expensive and inefficient way to produce
electricity for those with grid electricity available.

It's also a cheap way to power a small cabin off grid for under $00.00.
I stayed in one a weekend in March, powered by a couple of harbor
freight panels and a one of those booster/emergency battery packs.
It ran a couple of lights, laptop and a radio with no problem.
As price drops there will be no real reason to diss it at all.
Right now you can get panels in bulk for under $.00 a watt.

What do you call a 'small cabin' and how did you keep warm ?
Obviously for off-grid essential electrical energy it can be OK as long as
the sky isn't clouded over.
