You can actually buy mirror mosaics (small mosaic sized mirror tiles
on a net backing) though I don't know about in Canada. Try bathroom
tile shops or DIY stores.
Or cut your own squares from the cheapest, thinnest, glass mirror
tiles available with a glass cutter. If you get hold of a pair of
glass cutter's pliers from a shop that deals with stained glass
supplies you don't even need to learn how to break the pieces off
yourself. Just cut the glass using a straight edge (and a glass
cutter) into long strips (one at a time). Then squeeze at the start of
the line with the glass pliers afterwards. Once you've got enough
strips you cut across into small squares. I've cut 1" & 1 1/2" squares
out of 1/4" (6mm) float glass without problem. Thinner mirror glass
should be even easier. Remember to wear safety gloves & glasses and do
oil the wheel of the glass cutter (it helps). There's lots of tiny
shards flying about from work like this and the edges are all razor
sharp when cut. We don't want to lose anyone of an experimental nature
to total blood loss. <g>
You could always try sticking a space blanket (or other reflective
foil) to your satellite dish to see if that works if the mirror
mosaics are unobtainable locally and you don't fancy the hazardous
cutting process.
(Should I leave a space here for Nick to say "wrong" or can he manage
that himself?) <g>
