I have 100's of small mirrors 2" X 2" that can be used

Yea, you don't need a solar trough just to distill water.
Check out the EPSEA solar still plans. It's only good for
a couple of gallons a day but you can always built it bigger
or make more than one.
Redrok also has some archived messages on this topic, as it comes
up rather frequently. I would be interested to hear if anyone has
managed to put together a multiple effect solar still.

Now thats the kind of responce i was looking for, actual science / eng i can
get my teeth into. I think i may scale back to 5 gallons to keep it within
the "small" concept. scrap 2x2 mirrors and go with reflective film ( whats
I am mid florida, so sun shine 10 hours per / day is average. (does anyone
have actual figures?) so if i planned to build something 8 feet long by 6
foot curved I would be in the ball park??
look forward to your responce.
many thanks for your help.

Mirrors need to be cleaned occasionally to keep them working. Will
foil allow this?

Central Florida... Home of Zepherhills? Why not drill a well, put in a
roof or attic tank and use a PV pump to get the water to the gravity
tank? More water than you will ever need. (Sorry for promoting PV
on the thermal site...)
