Cool. but the feedhorn needs a solid, precise location.  I will check
the window opener idea for the solar receiver retraction scheme.

I'm no expert on any of this, but if you maximize for solar and had the
lnb x% off-center, is there any point at which you lose so much signal
that the size of your dish can't compensate or is there any point
off-center that won't collect so much heat that it will fry your lnb,
but will still allow you to collect heat?

I realize this would mean a secondary placement for the lnb, but if it
works wouldn't this more-or-less guarantee you wouldn't fry your lnb (if
you have a sufficently accurate tracker).

No matter what offset is used, the lnb will be in the focal point several
weeks out of each year when the sun is tracking in line with the Clark Belt.

If the dish is tracking the sun year round the lnb would only be useful
when sun is tracking in line with the Clark Belt.

If he has the lnb offset AND the dish tracks the sun all day (perfectly}
the lnb would never be in the hot spot.

Just for GRINS :)

I stand corrected ..... as long as the dish ALWAYS tracks the sun.  I guess
the warning label will read, " Do not attempt to view satellite services
during daylight hours .... serious damage can result .... equipment that is
.... LOL!

I would seriously consider mechanically moving the lnb. Any malfunction or
incorrect programming of the aiming mechanism could result in an expensive
lnb meltdown!
