 A 220 volt motor does NOT need a neutral, only 120 volt equipment and
equipment that uses both voltages, which motors normally do not.

Is the orange wire from the primary or secondary side of the tranformer?
Maybe the orange wire is the neutral.
and maybe i should be guessing from here.
