I am in Savannah GA
I want to purchase a solar water heater
I have no idea what to buy whom to purchase from

I have talked to one company about evacuated tubes.
Another about a simple copper pipe collector system
I have seen many systems in the Caribbean and Southern Europe made of
aluminum (non painted tank) with a solar collector

Savannah is very hot in the Summer - we have a lot of sunshine and I have a
metal seamed roof facing south

Any comments would be massively appreciated

David

I have two 4x8 flat plate collectors, home-built from manufactured parts with
selective paint. I got an old hot water tank and removed the electric elements
and replaces them with home-made ports (1/4" copper with a 5/8 hole and a 1/2"
pipe brazed to it). A 3-speed Grundfos circulates the water. (The panels are
drained for the winter and I heat the water with a tank on the top of my wood
stove.)

I can basically boil 40 gallons all summer. The electric elements in my real
tank are there for rainy days.

DIY setups can be quite cost-effective.   :-)

Well, since I steered you this way and this is a low traffic group, I'll

I think all those listed are good collectors. The Heliodyne certainly
seem to be very well designed.
