I think it's time for me to get an IR thermometer. Good for checking
out the collectors and good for finding heat leaks in the house.
Any recommendations? Seems the "spot" size is important, and for me,
the cost also. I've seen some with a 5 to 1 spot size (I guess 1" at 5"
distance), and some that are just 1 to 1, and some that don't say. Seems
to me that narrow is good... I imagine that many of you already have
such thermometers, what do you think?

I always have an unused probe on my Steca 301 that I moved around when
I feel ambitious. The scanner would be easier for sure. I can borrow
one at work used for electrical distribution cable splice heating

I just bought this one. It seems quite fine.

Looks like it'll be my plan. Thanks.
What do think the spot size is, how far away can you make a
measurement? And about what did you pay for it? Not that the buy it now
price is too high!

Mine was $0+$ . The seller was "thegoodhit". Don't know the other
answers, I don't have the unit or the instructions where I am right now.
