usage was reduced 31%.  (26,000 kWh to 17,840 kWh). This is the
principal reason my 10 kW solar system performed so well in reducing my
last year's power cost to the absolute minimum (service charges +
standby were < $0).

I had though that power meters measure real kWhrs (in effect multiply
the two vectors by a current and a voltage winding), not Volts * Amps,
perhaps I am wrong here, or perhaps your meters there are different?

How do you correct your power factor?

 PF correction will ***NOT*** affect a watthout based
meter unless you line power losses due to high
currents. We are talking less than 1% here.

It will, however affect the VA of the supply. In an
inverter it will affect the capacity of the inverter
and the VA of the battery. Since a battery produces DC
there is no phase angle to be considered and VA =
watts.

All this wattage talk for inverters is a bunch of
nonsense. You inverter does **NOT*** care how many
watts you use out of your power. It only cares about
the voltage it has to produce and the amperes flowing
through it's circuit which produce an IR drop in it's
circuits.
