Hi All,
Does anyone know if Solar panel is suitable in Malaysia.
We have almost half a day with sun light everyday throughout the year.
The temperature is about 30C and may be hotter sometime depends on the
weather.
I was wondering if it is raining or cloudy day, does the solar still works?
Hope to hear some feedback from the  expert out there.

You might try running PVWatts for a city near you and a city with
known good solar performance, and compare the  output for the same
system in the two locations.

PVwatts is intended for solar electric applications, but the ratio of
the outputs for two cities should be about the same for solar thermal
systems.

I think Version 1 is easier to use.

occasionally to see if it got better ;-(

Version two is only for the US.

Predicted solar energy available, based on real observation points around
the US and the world.

Locate "Asia" in the right hand panel, click the radio button there, drop
down to an appropriate city, "start PVWatts for international sites" bar at
the bottom.  Accept all the defaults, click calculate.  The chart shows
solar radiation as observed at that location.

You can adjust for the azimuth and elevation of your panels as needed.

Bangkok is the closest city.
It shows 5.04 kWh/m2/day for south facing panels at 14 degree tilt.

Here is the answer:

Yes, Malaysia is highly suitable for using Solar power, this is
because we
are located strategically near the equator. Average location in
Malaysia can
obtain about 6 Sun hour per day, which is a lot!
Temperature of 30 degree is not and issue as all solar panel is design
to stand
75 degree operating temperature under the hot sun.
During raining or cloudy day, the solar still work but the power
generated will
drop to about 20-30% of the max power.

Now is possible to DIY your own solar powered high efficiency LED
lighting system for
your home with the current solar products available from PG Solar,
Penang, Malaysia.
Previously this kind of professional solar lighting solution for home
is not so popular due
to expensive solar panel and charge controller with the low efficiency
lighting solutions.
PG Solar introduce & offer new range of products from Japanese solar
panel, charge controller
and also high power Luxeon LED lightings. We can figure out the
complete system solution for you.

Immediate stock available for 16W, 21W & 43W Kyocera solar panel,
EPRC-10A charge controller
with auto lighting control timer, 1W, 3W, 5W Luxeon Star LED and 9W
