I want to buy a tiny house or cottage or trailer on a piece of land for
$ 10.000 or 1-2 acres for $ 2000 in or outside a little town. I need no
basement, no garage but electicity and water and Internet access. I can
move to any state or town in the western USA.

I called a few real estate guys but it seems they just want to sell me
their most expensive stuff. I looked at some websites but found mainly
expensive houses in larger towns.

How do I find it?

Suggestions:

[1] Read the real estate listings in your newspaper _every_ day.
[2] Network, network, network.
[3] Visit small towns and when you find the one you _really_ like,
network, network, network with the local folks. If they like you, at
least some will let you know when a property becomes available.

This is the problem. The ads mostly show expensive city houses, rarely
anthing rural is advertised, Morris.

True - that's why it's so important to scan the ads every day. After
six months of reading about the wrong houses, we spotted a 5A
homestead (old 4BR house + 50x80 barn with concrete silo + a dozen
other buildings) for sale by owner for $5K.

Properties like this sometimes appear only once; and generally don't
remain on the market very long. Ninety percent of success is simply
paying attention so that you can react quickly.

Wouldn't you start with http://realestate.msn.com  ?
Pick a city, look around, call those agents, repeat...
Or www.realtor.com, or century21.com, or ...

The nearest feed store probably has some "horse property" real estate
magazines.  Maybe http://www.1horseproperty.com/
