In the late spring I started researching solar hot water for my house
in New England. A good installer pointed out that I need to redo my
roof before they'll install a panel, which set me back a bit.

I'm now planning to do the roof in the early spring, and then put the
system in after that.

In the meantime, I took a first step towards lower dependence on oil.
Last night I bought a fireplace insert and will be ordering a first
cord of wood shortly, with the goal of heating as much as possible
with wood rather than oil this winter.  I would have bought a stove
but our house layout isn't really conducive for stove use, and
esthetics were important to my wife.

Dealer will be installing it in late September, can't wait to have a
first fire.
