Can anyone point me to a link for a home-built active drain-back type
system (including panels and system plans & resources) that you're
fond of?
Maybe something you have experience with.
Thanks

Curbie...
Everyone must be out partying. :)
There's a whole page of links on Gary Reysa's BuildItSolar.com web site
(watch for URL wrap):
<http://www.builditsolar.com/Projects/WaterHeating/water_heating.htm#DB%20and%20Closed%20Loop>
Gary is a regular here, and if you discover more/better links, be sure
to let him know.
As you already know I'm /not/ fond of wet systems nor of anything that
has moving parts.
I've built and tested exactly one hot water panel and it was never
incorporated into a system. On a scale of 1 to 10, my experience level
is about 0.1 :)

Which isn't such a bad idea, think I'll head out Sunday.

Got it Morris, good catch!
I've been to that site alot, real good info, but the site is big
enough that I miss what I was looking for. Too much info is still
better than too little. What I was looking for:
http://www.builditsolar.com/Experimental/CopperAlumCollector/CopperAlumCol.htm
or
http://www.builditsolar.com/Projects/WaterHeating/water_heating.htm#DB%20and%20Closed%20Loop
but I want to spend some time re-viewing all the info on the link you
provided, seems like enough good ideas to warrant a re-assessment of
my plan.
Thanks for the light.
