Does anyone know of mirror material that can be thermoformed (without
re-metalizing)? I saw some advertized a while ago but haven't been
able to re-find.

Also- does anyone here have experience in thermoformed mirrors?

Thanks

A project I was involved in once used thermoformed panels and we just
glued metalized
film to the surface.  It's a heck of a lot cheaper than trying to form
metalized material.
We also found that the reflectivity was better.  And, repairs were much
cheaper.

For solar collection it worked just fine.  In fact, for solar collection
the substrate doesn't
have to be plastic.  Use your imagination.  You could prototype the
whole thing with
cardboard.

I worked in the thermoforming industry for many years and believe me
that unless you need
a very precise mirror, you don't need a thermoformable metalized material.
If you need a focus more accurate than formed material and glued on
metalized film
then you probably don't want to used thermoformed mirrors.
